FAQ

New to Sheffield knives? Not sure what to expect? James of Twisted Assistedwill provide you with a proper introduction:

Where are your knives made?

Our knives are handcrafted in Sheffield, England, the historic home of British Cutlery. Each knife is made using traditional methods and restored vintage machinery, then hand-finished by master cutlers, many of whom are third, fourth, and even fifth-generation craftsmen. This process preserves the skill, quality, and character that have defined Sheffield knives for centuries.

Will I have to pay any additional import duties, tariffs, or customs fees if I purchase a knife from you?

Sheffield Knives USA covers all import duties, tariffs, and US customs fees. The price you see at checkout is the final price you pay, with no surprises on delivery. All orders will be shipped directly to you from Charlotte, North Carolina using USPS services.

In August of 2025, the United States eliminated the de minimis tariff exemption for imports from the UK. Duties and tariffs now apply to qualifying shipments. We handle these costs (including international shipping) on your behalf so your order arrives smoothly, and without additional charges.

Does the C70 carbon steel blade require any special maintenance?

C70 carbon steel harkens back to a simpler time before powdered super steels, where reliability, durability, and ease of sharpening were key. After use, simply wipe the blade clean and dry, and apply a light coat of food-safe oil to protect against moisture.

Over time, you may notice a natural patina beginning to form. This is perfectly normal and an aesthetically pleasing characteristic of traditional carbon steel

When will these be back in stock?

Our knives are produced in small, limited batches using carefully selected materials. Because of this, availability is often very limited. If you're fond of a particular item, we strongly encourage placing an order as soon as it becomes available

Due to the nature of our products, we cannot guarantee if or when past offerings will be restocked. Some patterns or materials may never be produced again.
